On 30th July 2012 will be held an information day under Strategic project „Joint Risk Monitoring during Emergencies in the Danube Area Border“, reference number № 2s-2.2-1, MIS-ETC Code: 166 financed by the European Regional development fund and the State budgets of Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Romania under the Crossborder Cooperation Programme Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013.
The information day will be dedicated to the announcement of the results from the two-year work under this project the topic of which is the protection of the environment and the waters in the cross-border area of the Danube river.
In the time period between 10.00-16.00 h all citizens who are interested in specific issues related to the activities under the project as well as its feasible results will be able to talk to Ms Kameliya Dzhanabetska – Project Manager on behalf of RIEW – Veliko Turnovo and a member of the Joint Steering Committee under the project.
What are our achievements so far?
Protection: Initiatives for design and development of best practices for prevention and control of environmental pollution in compliance with European directives in the field, namely IPPC (Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control Directive of the European Union) and Seveso II Directive on the control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances. An evaluation has been performed on the condition of the surface waters in the cross-border area of the Danube river and measures are planned to resolve all the issues. For that purpose a special leaflet will be printed out.
Monitoring: Professional dialogue and exchange of experience in relation to the application of Methodology for planning control inspections by defining the risk contained in installations and / or equipment that falls in the scope of Directive 96/61/EO, Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control Directive, a.k.a. IPPC in Romania and Bulgaria.
Control: Joint inspections conducted together with Romanian National Environmental Guard.
Partnership: Key element of our success is the crossborder partnership which we have established and continually develop. We cooperate with governmental institutions and organizations that work in the field of environmental protection and safety of people.
Finances: The financial resources of RIEW Veliko Turnovo under the project constitute 400000 Euro. Towards the end of the second year from the project implementation the amount used and reimbursed is 467392 BGN or approximately 60 % of the project budget, while the amount of 586740 BGN has been negotiated to be received which constitutes 75 % of the financial resources of the project.
Efficient management: transparency of the way public funds have been spent, effective and efficient project costs, project management that entirely complies with the law while decreasing at the same time all possible natural and anthropogenic risks, responsibility and accountability within the project team and among partners.
