On 31st January 2014 will be held an information day under Strategic project „Joint Risk Monitoring during Emergencies in the Danube Area Border“, reference number № 2s-2.2-1, MIS-ETC Code: 166 financed by the European Regional development fund and the State budgets of Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Romania under the Crossborder Cooperation Programme Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013.
Main emphasis will be laid upon the biodiversity which forms the basis for the functioning of the ecosystems and the provision of ecosystems services. Biodiversity has significant impact on the wellbeing of both people and the regions they live in, contributing to the safety of supplies, the health of each next generation, clean air and fresh water supply, while supporting the local ways of living and economic development.
This decade provides a basis for a number of different initiatives for communication, education, training, active involvement and awareness. On the occasion of the forthcoming World Wet Zones Day – 2nd February, the Regional Inspectorate extends an invitation towards several high schools in Veliko Tarnovo to join the commemorative event.
On 31st January, between 12 and 16 h at the Information centre of the environmental inspectorate will be held different events with the participation of young people – lectures dedicated to the wet zones and their value, design of feeding-troughs for birds on the example of the Bulgarian association for protection of birds, film show demonstrating the process of building the nature protection network Natura 2000, work with educational materials.
In the framework of the project there has been designed a topical poster, entitled „Let’s Live in Harmony with Nature“ which contains messages from the Strategic Biodiversity Plan 2011-2020 and will be distributed among the public.
