On the occasion of World Water Day – March 22, International Year of Water Cooperation 2013 and the need for common action for water and environment protection RIEW – Veliko Tarnovo organizes briefing with the institutions responsible for water protection, and media that will be held on 22.03.2013 at the Information center RIEW – Veliko Tarnovo.
Invitations were sent to mayors of municipalities and environmentalists, representatives of water companies, experts from Basin Directorate for Water Management – Pleven and Water Bureau – Veliko Tarnovo, as well as to regional offices “Fire Safety and Protection of Population.”
Plamen Lenov – chief expert in Regional Laboratory – Veliko Tarnovo will present an assessment of the ecological status of surface waters in the Bulgarian-Romanian border part of the Danube river.
The discussion on “Measures to protect the purity of water. Projects for municipalities and institutions – implementation, problems and prospects” will be lead by eng. Elena Grigorova – Director of RIEW – Veliko Tarnovo.
The briefing is realized within the project “Joint risk monitoring during emergencies in the Danube area border” MIS-ETC Code: 166, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget of the two neighboring countries by CBC Programme Romania – Bulgaria 2007-2013
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March in order the communities to advocate for the sustainable management of water resources and to raise public awareness on the importance of freshwater availability.
